April Showers Bring May...Snow Storms? PDF Print E-mail

Well, it appears that mother Nature has not yet made up her mind as to what season we are in.  Is it Spring?  Is it Summer? NO!  It's Winter coming straight for us!

Mother Nature is at it again!  Inconsistency and unseasonal Storms!  While Spring started rather early this year with temperatures warmer than usual and the majority of snow being gone by March 10th, it seems that we're headed for a sliver of shivery winter over the next 2 days, and then unseasonally cooler temperatures over the next week.

With a blast of cold air moving in, high winds, and 10-15 cm of snow predicted to accummulate over night, the inhabitants of M.U.S.H.E.R.S. may be waking to a snow-covered wonderland in the morning!

That is to say, if we even get any sleep!  I'm not expecting to sleep well tonight, what with the strong winds whipping on the  side of the trailer and the excited, howling dogs all night!  Storms like this often go unnoticed by the dogs, whom persistently wait up all night calling for their mushers to get out the sleds and hit the trails, despite the fact that it may be 3 in the morning and only -2 degrees!  Not to mention the fact that the trails are still unseasonally soft with Spring melts, the creeks are flowing with beautiful tranquility, and the trees already have bright green leaves on them!

If the dogs howl long enough with no appearance of their mushers, they'll eventually begin to play with one another.  Resulting in clanking chains, fallen food bowls, tipped water buckets, banging wooden houses as they jump on and off of them, and the nightmare of overnight winter storms: LOOSE DOGS!

With any luck, the weather network is lying about the storm that is supposed to start over the next few hours!  With plans to move the kennel, and a lot of ground work to be done before the dogs can be moved, a storm like this could set back the move by about 3 days.  So let's keep our fingers crossed that the storm isn't as bas as they're calling for!

I'll keep you posted as to how things go over the next few days!
